As
a Chiropractor, people tell me that they are afraid to go to a
Chiropractor. I ask them what is their fear and they tell me, they
don’t know. Then they say something silly like,
“you might
break my neck off”. The fear is understandable, but
irrational.
Too many people live with back pain every day and are not doing
anything
to get better. They live their life just dealing with the pain when
they can actually do something about it. Go to a Chiropractor.
Chiropractors specialize in back pain. Chiropractors treat people every
day with aches and pains that come on suddenly or have been hanging
around for a long time. Many patients say, “I wish I would
have
come to a chiropractor sooner. I have been dealing with this pain most
of my life and now I feel much better”.
Chiropractors
treat the dysfunctional joints of the body and the tissue that
surrounds the joints. The doctor will evaluate the movement in the
spine and in the arms and legs to see how they are functioning. Then
the chiropractor will do a thorough exam before establishing a
treatment
plan. Because every person is different, each treatment plan may be
different too.
Lets start out with a person in
sever pain
that came on suddenly. A chiropractor may start out with very gentle
Chiropractic techniques such as Activator or Flexion / Distraction. The
Chiropractor may also do some soft tissue therapies to help in the
healing process and reduce pain. The patient will also be advised to
ice the injured area for the next 72 hours to reduce inflammation and
pain. This patient may need more Chiropractic visit in the begging, but
as they start to feel better, the time between each treatment would be
extended out.
A person that has pain constantly
may need a
couple of weeks of Chiropractic treatment before there back starts to
stabilize and hold their adjustments. At that time, the treatments
might be extended to once a month for maintenance care to keep the pain
in check. Now people have also told me that once you see a
Chiropractor, you go for life. In my experience, patients choose to
continue Chiropractic care, because they know and understand how good
they feel with a Chiropractic check up every now and again even if they
are not in pain. Most people go to the dentist just for a teeth
cleaning, even though they are not in any pain. They know that if they
can maintain the health of their teeth, then they are preventing future
problem. The same goes with maintenance care for your spine. People who
see a Chiropractor on a regular maintenance schedule are extending the
health of their spine, joints and body.
Chiropractic
is great for all ages. See your local Chiropractor today and have a
happier, healthier you tomorrow.
